First, let me tell you that yesterday was the coldest day of the fall season. In addition to record breaking lows, we also had 20+ mile per hour winds to contend with for our entire day in the great outdoors. It was tolerable during the day, but was almost miserable after the sun went down last night.
There were hours of practice once we arrived.
Lots of practice.
And more practice.
Lots of flying mallets.
Bass #5 is my personal favorite this year. (Just though I'd share.)
Soon, it was time to perform.
They won first place again this year - and retain the title of BEST DRUMLINE IN TEXAS!!!
Our cymbals also won their caption as did our snares. The basses tied for their caption.
Everyone was very, very happy. (And cold.)

Yay, Burrito!!! Congratulations--all that hard work paid off!
I'm sure you had a blast just watching that performance, Dawn...proud enough to burst your buttons!
Love you,
YBFA&F
PS: Sure wish I could have watched with you...Maybe I can see a video sometime???hint hint...
Congratulations. It was cold here in Dallas yesterday. I wish I knew you were in town, maybe next time we could have a coffee.
Is your video camara broke?????
You killed me for a second. I was reading fast and saw "flying mallet" and thought "flying mullet" isn't that the strange hair cut men did back in the day...what did Burrito do to his hair??!! Then I did a quick look at the pictures. No mullet...No flying mullet, especially. So I re-read and caught my mistake. Whew, time to laugh.
Yay for Burrito!
WOO HOO! How very exciting for him and them!
And I'm with Valarie, we need some video!
They look very precise and professional! Our high schools go crazy with band competitions and do very well. Congratulations!
WOO HOO BURRITO! I am so excited about this post and their big win!
(Yes I am finally home and back to the blogs!)
Please send my very sincere congratulations to Bass Drum #5!
Be blessed Dawn.
Congratulations!! I made the All State Choir my senior year in Iowa; we were told it was second only to Texas, because the state is SO BIG, there was so much competition. What an accomplishment for your son and his team to be the best; especially in Texas! My Dad used to take me to watch the Madison Scouts practice and perform; I love me a good drum line.
Blessings, Whitney
That is wonderful! What a big honor and a happy face :)
Congrats! What part of Texas are you in. We lived in Red Oak for 8 years and loved it, My adopted grandchildren still live there. Though Brit goes to Tarleton in Nursing, Serg graduates this year from high school. I love your blog!
Hugs,
Polly and Steve
