"Will it happen again?"
"Would they do it today since it's September 11th again?"
Wow.How do I answer these questions with the honesty my teens deserve? We've talked about this subject a lot lately.
Our conclusion?
The best way to make sure it never happens again is to never forget that it happened in the first place.

I talked with my boys about what today means to so many different people. They soberly digested the gravity of the day... Evan asked me not to describe it more so that he wouldn't get nightmares about it. Our boys are 5 & 7, and we took a little time this morning to pray for all of the people affected by this tragedy, on both sides. **may Your kingdom come, Lord, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven**
I know we can't live in fear...so I choose not to. But of course those thoughts run through my mind...such tough questions.
I'm remembering today too.
the other dawn
So glad you got some much needed rain! We just bought our fall bulbs this week. This year we'll plant them in the fall since we have a winter for them to be dormant. I hope to have a lot more blooms this spring! ;)
Well said!
Was in DC on 9/11 and the Coast Guard was firing on a private boat. Live on the news for about an hour. Shut down Reagan International Airport for a while. Everyone wondering if it was connected to 9/11...
Turned out the Coast Guard was doing a training exercise. I'd like to know who picked the date for that one! Duh...
The Boy watched a documentary over the weekend about 9/11 and cried. He said it was just so sad.
You know, they don't teach it in the schools here. I would think as recent as it was that the teachers would make mention of it but they don't. It really is the parents responsibility to make sure our kids never forget either.
Hugs Dawn!
I wonder if it will be harder or easier to explain to my kids who were not even born on 9/11?
