I'll apologize to you romantics right now... because I'm not talking about my Prince Charming.
Nope... I'm talking about my best friend, Stephanie. I've told you about her before and bored many of you to tears with stories of our adventures. Indulge me on this special day and let me tell you again about our story.
Stephanie and I met on the first day of 9th grade. We rode the same bus and were the two "new kids" in a very, very small private school, which meant "blending in" was not possible. Maybe we became friends out of that desperate situation. (Hey, it was high school and we were girls - that makes it a desperate situation!) Or, maybe it was because we just truly liked each other. Either way, I believe God intended for the paths of our lives to cross and we've been best friends ever since.Together we've been through high school, college, boyfriends, break ups, engagements and weddings, trying to have babies, having babies, raising families... and all the highs and lows of life. We know each other intimately and love each other deeply. We started using the acronym "YBFA&F" (Your Best Friend Always & Forever) somewhere along the way and still use it even now to close letters and emails. It's even been engraved on jewelry. Apparently our hearts beat on the same frequency as it is uncanny how many times we'll be thinking of the other, only to have the phone ring and hear a voice on the other end of the line saying, "Hey, you - you've been on my mind!"
Today, I am celebrating my BFA&F and thanking God for the very special blessing of our friendship. I love you, Steph!
In honor of today, tell me about your best girl friend. Who is she? How did you meet? How long have you been friends?

nothing to take for granted, Dawn. How wonderful!
Celebrating with you!! God has blessed us both with our friendship...lots of great memories!
Fun to read your tribute--we sure have been through some stuff together!
Looking forward to 30+ more! :)
Love you lots,

True friends are a precious gift! I have a friend that I met in 1st grade. Her dad took the position of Children's Pastor at our church and we both attended the church school. Jamey and I were inseperable growing up. I vacationed with them. We were members of the swim club so she spent whole summers at my house. When we were old enought we drove to the gulf every weekend. When we got married we have lived in different states so we are not as close, where we do stuff often. We are more like sisters in that we pick up right where we left off when we talk. She is a friend that I know will always be a part of my life. It is funny because we live different lifestyles now. All my activities revolve around family and mainly church activities. She goes out dancing and to wine parties. If I met her today I don't think we would have become friends. But, the bond of sisterhood is there where we love and accept each other for who and what we are, even if it isn't identical lives now.
I met my best girlfriend in high school and we became college roommates. 33 years later, we are still closer than sisters. We got married and had children at the same time. Now those children are marrying and we're looking forward to grandchildren. We do roadtrips together and we are planning a trip down the Pacific coast next summer. We NEVER run out of things to talk about. What a blessing long time friends are.
Beautiful! My best girls and I used to write LYLAS on notes passed in school, Love You Like A Sister. :)
My Sister IS my best friend, where would I be without her?
Blessings,
C~
How wonderful! There is such a treasure in a girlfriend who knows your heart and whose heart you know as well. I love it!
So you don't have a problem with wearing a mustache in church and making people laugh? Um, why would you put an ice cream in your back pocket? You know it melts slower in the front pocket.
I always have trouble picking a "best" friend. Love so many of my friends for so many reasons and try to "share" myself equally among them. Friendship is an amazing and beautiful gift, praising God for yours!
Sweet :)
