In our home, the kiddos' bedrooms and the game room are on the second floor of the house. The main living areas and our bedroom are on the first floor. So quite often the kiddos are able to carry on conversations without us hearing them.
Burrito left at six o'dark-clock in the morning to participate in an indoor drumline competition in another town. (They placed second! Woohoo!!) That left Kat an only child for the day and stuck alone with me as Bud had also left on a fishing trip.
Apparently, they both have a lot of catching up to do as they've been talking pretty much nonstop since Burrito arrived home about an hour ago.
As I was preparing to order pizza for our dinner (don't judge... I already told you Bud was fishing!), I overheard this conversation as Burrito passed Kat on his way back to his room following a shower.
Kat: You're so skinny!
Burrito: That's okay - at least I won't ever have to worry about getting fat.
Kat: Ya, but you're almost too skinny.
Burrito: No I'm not. Plus, look at the muscles in my arms from playing drums. It's sick!
(Sick is a good thing in teenager speak.)

Kat: I think you should get a six-pack.
Burrito: Okay.
Because it's just that easy, right? Let's not tell him about the cruel trick his metabolism is going to play on him somewhere in his mid-30's, okay?

oh come on - he's got to know sooner or later (lol) Don't you just hate that it IS just that easy for them at that age? So funny.
Ha!
So, my hubby planted 200 bulbs in our front planter bed today! 100 each of tulips and ranunculus in mixed colors. I'm hoping it will be bursting with spring color in a few weeks! Did you plant yours? We were planning to plant last weekend, but I was in pain and he was too busy taking care of me. ;) I couldn't really help today other than to drop the bulbs in his holes, but lucky for me, he's a great sport!
I'm glad you enjoyed Hey Cupcake! And yes, please share your fabulous bluebonnet location! (I heard they are beginning to peak out in some spots, but I haven't seen any yet.)
That is hysterical, Dawn! I love how concerned she is about his physique. And telling him he needs to go out and pick up a six-pack, like it's something for sale at the corner store. Hee hee!
So let us know how that goes. And yes, those muscle-heads of our younger years have quite the belly now. Guess they have "furniture disease": their chest has slipped down into their drawers!
It's the confidence I love, even if it is an illusion game we play. When reality catches up, confidence and illusion sometimes bow down in deference.
I agree let Burrito find out the stark facts later...much, much later.
That's a blessing that they enjoy each other's company. I have NEVER had to worry about being to skinny. I hope that it doesn't catch up to him.
I am proud of his 'sick' drummer muscles :)
"I think you should get a six pack" ho ho ho... ha ha ha!!! Good one!
LOL! So funny and so true! Go drumline!
