Confessions of an April's Fool

I've always loved April Fool's Day. It's one event that really fits my personality. I'm extremely good at coming up with pranks to play on my unsuspecting family. (You'd think they'd learn, wouldn't you?) Except for last year when I totally forgot about the day.

Until I got the phone call.

You do remember what happened, don't you? No? You'll want to go read about it here.

Pretty funny, right?

Well... the day was young and far from over for me.

Then came Kat's little prank. Don't remember that either? Read about it here.

(Seriously... go ahead. I'll wait.)

I've been waiting all year for payback. ALL. YEAR.

Tomorrow is THE day.

What do I have planned? Nothing. I've got nothing.

So, what is your favorite trick? Don't give me the usual plastic-wrap-over-the-toilet-seat or resetting the alarm clock three hours ahead. Don't get me wrong - those are hilarious. But I need original, make 'em pay ideas. Ideas that will make them think twice about trying to trick the mother of all tricksters ever again.

I know you won't let me down!

Hmm I have heard of these colored tablets that you put in you faucet so when they turn the water on, the water comes out a different color???

Hmm I will keep thinking....

I can't think of anything that isn't cruel.

Sorry.

My brother once placed a tape recorder under friend's bed making them think he tape recorded them the night before.

My husband's mom placed mashed potatoes in her brother's slippers.

I don't know if that helps or not. Let us know.

tell your kids you found out you're pregnant!!! By the sounds of things, that might stir things up a bit in your favor. (I tried that once, and then 6 years later I actually had a baby on April Fools Day... I wasn't completely successful in sharing the news with my FIL... ha ha ha.

These ones I may try tomorrow morning...
-stuff the fronts of your kids shoes with socks or toilet paper
-balance a pillow (or cup of water) on top of their door first thing in the morning
-tuck a spool in your pocket and pretend it's a loose thread hanging out
-unravel a roll of toilet paper a bit and write messages that your kids will find in the a.m. Color your milk with food coloring

Can't wait to hear how it goes!

The best April Fools joke I ever played wasn't very appreciated...

I waited until my husband had was in the middle of shaving (still in his PJ's) and then yelled hysterically from the living room, "GRANT! SOMEONE'S TAKING OUR CAR!!!" He came running out and blasted out the front door with shaving cream flying everywhere. Of course our car was sitting there in the driveway untouched!

I remember reading last year's post and laughing my head off. That was great!

My son got me this morning. I think the prank was actually supposed to be for his brother or sister, but I used the bathroom before they did.

I went to the bathroom, flushed and then went to wash my hands. As I was washing my hands, I glanced over and saw that the toilet water was red....BLOOD red. I thought, "Hmmm....I don't have the plumbing to make red water anymore....geesh, maybe it's coming from somewhere else." Kinda had me panicked for a bit, since my Dad, granddad and great-granddad all died from colon cancer! But as I got closer to the toilet, I sensed the smell of Kool-Aid. He had dumped a package of red Kool-Aid in the upper tank and it appeared when I flushed.

What a stinker!

I really don't like 4/1 and trickery. I'm not a surprise kinda gal. One of the teachers here though played the best trick. She told her class that all the state test scores from their exam had been accidentally deleted and they needed to take the test again, that afternoon! She crammed them all morning. Then after lunch she put on the overhead "april fools!". I thought that was a pretty good one.
