I’ve been a bad blogger. Oh, yes – I’ve been reading blogs. I just haven’t written my own. But I have a good excuse because I’m still recovering from the party we had last Friday night with 27 of my kiddo’s closest friends.
Yes, there was food. These are just the remnants. After all that I prepared, they still felt the need to raid the pantry and make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. What would they have done had I served PB&J sandwiches? (I like that they feel that comfortable in our home!)
There were middle schoolers. We were grossly out-numbered. (Sigh…)
Jumping on the trampoline.

Several games of football.
Can’t have football without the cheerleaders.
And, it’s not a good party if you haven’t danced the Cha Cha Slide.
There were high schoolers.
A well-supervised game of twister.
Can you lick your elbow? Go ahead and try it. (We’ll wait…)
She can!
This is what honor students do to unwind after finals. Who knew?
A Dance Dance Revolution dance contest. Did anyone ever really win?
Max hid in our bedroom. Who could blame him? (Not really – we locked him in there for his own protection.)
The party was fun. Mostly. Both parents and kiddos learned a few things.
- Middle schoolers never get tired. Ever. Ever.
- It's really fun to hang out with teenagers. Seriously!
- It is good to have a spare pair of shorts around in case of an “accident” on the trampoline. All that jumping places a lot of stress on seams. Thank you for loaning replacements, Kat.
- Real friends respect your home, your possessions and your parents. If they don’t, they aren’t.
- The goal of TP’ing is to NOT get caught. Got that, Burrito? We’ve never been so embarrassed. Who would have thought that we would raise a kid who would get caught before even getting started?

Wow! Sounds like everyone had a blast...everyone? I dont think you mentioned you or Bud and how much fun YOU had. Or are you now planning a night out to have your own fun time? Without middle schoolers...or high schoolers...Or PB&J's...
You're such awesome parents to host such a fun end-of-the-school year party!
Love,
YBFA&F :)
The kiddos both had activities Saturday evening for several hours so we went out for a nice, quiet, relaxing seafood dinner! No kids allowed!!! Love ya, Dawn
I feel ya girl! As you know I have been there and done that. :o) Glad you survived!
That one girl must be double jointed, because I have never seen anyone do that. :o)
Nice and the memories you helped make are those that last for a lifetime..you are now very cool parent.
Keep up the partying mom and dad and your kids will have no reason to party any other way...WTG!!!
I hope to be just like you when mine grow up!
Yep the other~ dawn;0)
Wow...you are one awesome mom, Dawn!!!!
27 middle-schoolers???? I have to admit that the thought of this makes me want to go hide in the spare room with your cat! LOL
But good for you! It sounds like you even had a great time in the process! :D
Girl,
Enjoy these days, you blink and they are past, then you have the lean years of house visitations, then God is good and grandbabies come. I remember like yesterday thinking how did we have 60 plus in our back yard pool, not to mention the food bills. I miss those days, but now there are sweet good days, and the pitter patter fo little feet.:o)
Be blessed!
Lorie
Tammy... only (!!!) 18 were middle schoolers. The rest were my son's high school friends. That made it a little easier.
27 kids Wow! You definitely know how to throw a party!
Looks like every had a great time. Wow that was a lot of kids, but I love the ending of your post. Nicely put.
Oh that sounds like FUN! You are right, you have been by reading and commenting. I love hearing from you. Glad things have settled enough for you to post some of Dawn's life for us!
Take care
Jennifer
