Well, maybe these two.
The first day of school went well for both kids. Kat attended the first day of 7th grade at the new middle school in our district. We had a preview of the campus last week and it is beautiful. Kat was pleased to receive all the courses she had requested and was satisfied with the teachers for those classes. Except for one who shall remain nameless. She has a slight bias, though, as Burrito also had this teacher when he was at the other middle school and I think his opinion is clouding her opinion. Kat was also happy to report that she has friends and acquaintances in every class. Whew! Because we all know how important is to have your homies in class with you in order to receive a quality education! She was also pleased that her dance class was early in the day and not immediately after lunch like last year. Other contributing factors to the success of the day: She found all of her classrooms ("No problem!") and the lock on her locker worked just fine!
Burrito had a one day reprieve from early morning band practice on the first day. So, I dropped him off at the high school on my way to my coffee date with the girls in time to pick up his schedule and get to his first class of 10th grade. (I'm really not old enough to have a 10th grader, just in case you were wondering.) I am pleased to report that miracles are still occurring! Burrito's schedule was correct. He was thrilled with the instructors for his courses, as well. His big shock for the day? His world history class. It is a college level class that he will receive college credit for after he passes the final test at the end of the year. He had me look at the textbook multiple times while exclaiming things like, "Do you see how thick this is?" and "Look at how small the print is" and "There's hardly any pictures in here!"
Day number two started bright and early this morning since Burrito had to be at band. Actually, it was dark and early. And by early morning, I mean 6:30 AM. Also known as "o'dark-thirty." And, by 6:30 AM, I mean dressed, at the school, on the practice field, drum strapped on, ready to play at 6:30 AM.Our alarm goes off at 5:15 AM now, thank you very much!

Oh my goodness, that is early to be there!
I am glad they both have had a good day.
Sounds like day one went great! Yea for correct schedules...
So if that's 5:15am your time, it's 6:15am my time, and it's like 5:15pm in India. So that's not SO early...
Just kidding...don't call to chat on your way to school...I'll still be dreaming about the beach at that hour...sigh...
Wow, that brought back a flood of memories, yes, I still remember back to highschool! One of my recurring nightmares was never getting the combination right on my locker! And ditto on the marching band practices before the crack of dawn. Whew! I'm glad that part of my life is over!
God bless,
Brenda :)
They look gorgeous - tell them I said so!
And you don't take the locks on lockers for granted! Diva's jammed and she was QUITE frustrated.
My girls started in a brand new building too!

Burrito is so handsome, and Kat is so pretty (Grammy loves both of you so much). Glad they are mostly happy with everything and that they don't have a Mrs. Matsunaga (God rest her soul). Queen Mum
Oh wow...sounds like a good first day of school! 5:15...that's when I do my best REM sleep! LOL
They look so sweet all ready for school!
Welcome to the 5:00AM world. I've been keeping that schedule for so long that even on weekends I'm awake at that time. Bryan is now following that same pattern, except he complains and continues to ask me when that horror will stop!
I'm happy the kids had a good start to the exciting new school year.
I can remember getting up that earlier to ride in from the sticks or boondocks...had to be at the bus stop at 7am every morning!
My kids will never know this...and it's a shame.
Then again maybe I will emprovise!
Happy school days to you also!
Have a great school year Burrito and Kat!!! You too Dawn!!!!!!! :)
Love,
M
When I was your age I had a daughter that was in her second year at Liberity. So, don't tell me that you're not old enough.
Hoping that your weekend was good? You were in my prayers!!
Jen
Just got to thinking you weren't in your second year, you were a senior. Oh Boy now I'm feeling Old.
Burrito, that does sound awfully early, but just think of my username ALLNITEFLT. Love you! Have a great year.
Kat, Glad to hear that you like your new school. Hope we get to see some of your cheering competition this year. Love you, Grandad
