After paying more than $400 to have our children’s teeth “sealed” last year, how could those same diligent teeth-brushing children each have a cavity? Shouldn’t last year’s dental work come with some sort of a warranty? And, shouldn’t the fillings be free?
It rained today. The day I chose to go antique shopping with my parents in Salado. Aren’t we supposed to be experiencing the “100-year drought” in central Texas? I’m really not complaining about the rain. We do need it. But, seriously… today?
Did you know that I could be a grandmother? While shopping today, someone asked my parents if they had any great grandchildren yet. Before they could answer, I piped in with, “No, because I’m not old enough.” That conversation returned to my thoughts some hours later. I began doing the math. IF I’d married younger. (But still of “legal” age.) IF I’d had my children younger. And IF they’d then married young, too. Well, yes, I could be a grandmother. Alrighty then. Depressing.
Do you know what happens when you dream about blowing your nose? I do.
What does a high school honors chemistry class and baking cookies have in common? One large project that involves more work for me than it does for my kiddo. And more cookies in this house than are needed. (Recipe at the end of the post.)
The Queen Mum and Dad are planning to leave next week. I wish they’d stay longer. I’ve gotten use to having another “wife” in the house.
Don’t you just love the way my brain works? Scary, isn’t it?

Congrats on reaching 100~! I had a great time reading through your random thoughts.
Very curious about what could be in that box... got me thinking about what would be in a box of MY favorite things... that could be in a post of it's own, couldn't it?
And I understand about another wife in the house... as long as it's not for MY husband... :D
-oh- and ((sigh)) about the teeth. so sorry.
A HA! I knew you had something going on. I have missed you around Blogland. But a visit from parents is important and I know you all needed the time together. Blogland will wait for you :)
The cookies sound SOO good.
Yes, I think there should be a 'warranty' for the teeth. I have GOT to make my kids dental appointments. My son has such a nasty gag reflex that I DREAD it. Thank you for the reminder. I think I will look into it today.
Sorry it rained on your antiquing parade. I wish it had held off a few days.
And the age thing? I am a 37 year old mother of an 8 year old at school. So often there are 20 something year old mothers of 8 year olds at his school.
Makes. Me. Feel. OLD.
Love you lady!
CONGRATS Dawn! love the random thoughts. hate the dentist.
Congratulations on your 100th!
You gave me a visual on the nose-blowing dream. Yuck!
Maybe you should set up a table next to the GScouts and sell those cookies!
We share the same sense of humor.
Made my day!
Hooray for you 100th post!

And the dream..that got me LOLing!

Yay for your 100th post. I'm eager to read the NEXT 100!
I had to laugh at all the things you wrote cuz today has been one of those days for me, too. But then tonight at church, I realized that all those things weren't so bad when I ended up in a counseling session with a suicidal friend. Certainly wasn't expecting that, but I think that might have been God's subtle (or NOT so sobtle) way of telling me to stop whining!
Love ya!
Happy 100th Post!
I love Salado! I went once when I was visiting Texas, before I lived "here", but haven't been back since. I keep telling my hubby that we have to go one day because he hasn't been and it's such a cool town. I'm already planning in my mind that we are going to go in April, when the bluebonnets are blooming (hopefully, since there is fear that they won't be out in full force because of the aforementioned drought ;)) because I remember that there are some great bluebonnet spots on the way to Salado!
Happy 100th post Dawn. I always enjoy your posts so i was glad to see a new one today. Sounds like you are enjoying your time with your parents...you are blessed to be able to have them all to yourselves for this long.
I am sure those cookies were devoured by the chemistry class...you are a wonderful cook.
